This program is ideal for Dental Assistants moving to Florida or a Florida Dental Assistant that has been formally trained by a licensed dentist.
The (EFDA) Expanded Functions Dental Assistant Certification Expanded Functions Dental Assistant Certification course is for a dental assistant who has been formally trained by a licensed dentist in expanded functions tasks with a minimum of three months on the job training.
Students in the (EFDA) Expanded Functions Dental Assistant Certification course must be able to perform the expanded functions skills in a clinical setting and pass an online written exam with a grade of 75% or better to be issued a Florida Expanded Functions Dental Assistant Certification.
The Florida Board of Dentistry approved Expanded Function Certificate will be issued to the Dental Assistant immediately upon completion of the course listing that has been certified. The EFDA Certification course is administered in accordance with the Florida Board of Dentistry rule 64B5-16.005.

Place/Remove Temporary Restorations
Fabricating Temporary Crowns
Removal of Excess Dental Cement
Once registration is complete and payment is made, you will have access to the Expanded Functions Dental Assistant self-paced written course study guide and pre-test for the course.
This course has 2 parts.
Part 1- Written Expanded Functions Dental Assistant Certification Test.
To prepare for the test, we will send you a study guide to review for the written portion of the test. It includes all study material necessary to prepare you for your State of Florida Department of Health, Florida Board of Dentistry written tests for certification. The self-paced portion should strictly be a review and prepare you for your written certification.You should schedule your test within 2 weeks of receiving your study guide. Once you have satisfactorily completed the Expanded Functions Dental Assistant Certification Test with a 75% or better you may proceed to Part 2.
**Part one is taken in our facility, in person.
Part 2- Hands On Skills Testing.
This “Hands-On” portion involves your demonstrating your dental assisting skills. You should allow yourself 3-4 hours to complete this portion of the test. You must have a passing grade of 75% or better on both parts 1 and 2 to receive your certification. Both portions of this testing are completed on the same day in our testing center.** Part two is taken in our facility, in person.
